So, I thought this topic was fitting since we have been discussing the article "My Misspent Youth" in class.
I know we were all asked which of us thought Meghan Daum was irrational, and which of us thought what she did was actually kind of cool. Well I'm here to say that I think what she did was very UNcool.
Here is my rant for the day.
I think that spending money you do not have is an incredibly selfish thing to do. It affects so many other people in the world around you, and I don't think that is by any means fair. I do not count taking out a loan for college as something that fits under this category. That is an investment. However, going to the mall and racking up thousands of dollars on your credit card that you will not be able to pay off in unacceptable. I believe in working hard for the things that you have. Why should people get to have incredibly nice things, when they cannot pay for them? And the excuse of putting money into the economy needs to stop...

I found this article, The Logic of Stupid Poor People, and thought it was interesting why people who cannot afford certain things, feel the need to go buy them anyway. And while I can understand some of it, I do not support it.
And this e-card pretty much sums of the experiences I've had with people who spend money they don't have and why I feel so strongly against it.
